One month after we told you the story ABOUT fifty-four year old local contractor Crispin Lino who was detained pending investigations of stolen hurricane relief building materials, he called us to say he wanted to clear his name. Lino was a contractor hired to fix a roof of a home at #8 Simon Lamb Street as part of the hurricane rebuilding. Lino told us that he's the innocent victim of lies spread by a worker whom he had fired. So what happened to the twenty sheets of zinc and thirty one pieces of lumber that went missing? Lino said everything's still there it wasn't counted properly and so he wants to clear his name to continue his profession:
Crispin Lino, Local Contractor
"The material is there and Mr. Martinez is saying that his friend could not pay for the material. His friend did not build the kitchen and the bathroom. i have 45 pieces of zinc on top of the house top and 10 pieces are downstairs and some of the materials is also downstairs."
Andrea Polanco
"So you say that 20 sheets of zinc and 31 pieces of lumber unaccounted for. What happen to these materials?"
Crispin Lino, Local Contractor
"They sent the same man to bad mind me. He did not count the material correct because he want to bad minds me, him and Mr Martinez."
Andrea Polanco
"Why would they want to bad mind you?"
Crispin Lino, Local Contractor
"Because my co-worker doesn't like to see that the boss and I hang are friends. He left the job to go and buy weed, and he leave his weed here to bad mind me so that the people won't give any more job."
Andrea Polanco "So what you are saying is that you had to fire one of the employees and he was the one who went and told Mr. Martinez lies about you."
Crispin Lino, Local Contractor
"Yes, when I fire him, he talks behind my back. The Spanish co-worker tells me what he said. He still owes me the ceiling."
Andrea Polanco
"So they still owe you money for work that you did."
Crispin Lino, Local Contractor
"Yes, I build the ceiling and they never paid me for that."
Andrea Polanco
"How much money is that?"
Crispin Lino, Local Contractor
"$500.00. i am not use to those kind of things. Everybody knows that I don't do those kind of things. I want to clear my name because everybody doesn't know me like that."
A contractor for fifteen years in Belize, Lino said it's the first time he has worked for Minister Boots Martinez. He said all attempts to speak to the Minister have been ignored.
