Five men charged with keeping firearm and ammunition were freed of the charges when they were dismissed today in the number six Magistrate's court. Magistrate Dorothy Flowers dismissed the charges after she upheld a submission by attorney, Ellis Arnold that the charges had already been dismissed against the men in December last year, and they should not be charged again.
The men are Jeffrey Flowers, Stephen Flowers, Charles Young, Jr., Tylon Tillett, and Roberto Gilharry. They were charged in connection with an incident which occurred on September 17, 2010 in which the police reported that they pursued a car and caught up with it when it turned down a dead end road off Calle del Mar street.
The police said they saw one of the occupants of the car, Jeffrey Flowers, get out and throw an object over a zinc fence. The police reported that when they retrieved the object, it was a nine millimeter pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition in its magazine.
