Last night around 8:40, a pick-up overturned on the Northern Highway leaving one passenger dead, the driver critically injured and two other passengers hospitalized.
It happened between mile fifty six and fifty seven on the Northern Highway where thirty-five year old Antonio Calderon was driving a pickup from Corozal to Orange Walk, lost control near the northern bypass cutoff and overturned.
In the pickup with Calderon were: his mother, sixty eight year old Felicita Calderon, twenty one year old Yesenia Calderon, twenty-five year old Abel Chan and his son, two year old Elson Chan. All were transported to the Northern Regional Hospital where Felicita Calderon died from head and body injuries; Yesenia Calderon and Elson Chan remains hospitalized in a stable condition but Abel Chan was released last night. The driver, Antonio Calderon, Orange Walk Town, was later taken to the KHMH where he's listed in a critical condition.
Police are investigating.
