An 18 year old lost his life in an explosive accident on the Western Highway near Cayo on Friday night. Around 10:45, a westbound Shaw's Bus driven by 29 year old Osman Ordonez collided head on into a car driven by 18 year old Mark Guy Jr. Police say it happened between miles 61 and 62 when Guy - who was driving a Ford Escort - swerved into the lane of oncoming traffic - which, in this case, meant the bus carrying 20 passengers.
The impact was massive and Guy was crushed inside the car. His relative who is a nurse, happened upon the scene and his first cousin, Felicia Richards told us more.
Felicia Richards
"They were trying to get out the person, it's a male and they didn't know who it was and they couldn't get out the person. They didn't know it was my cousin until when my uncle Harry got there, because my sister the nurse - she said she checked him, but she didn't see the person's face until when my uncle got there. I don't know who called him - if it was the police or whom, then she (the nurse) realized that it was my cousin. They were trying to cut open the vehicle and after an hour or so they took him out. All I know that my cousin Javier Silva - he is running the Piache Bar right and he said that Mark was there and was having fun when he left saying that he was going to Georgeville when the accident happened, he said he told him not to go but stay and have fun but Mark said, 'No, I am going to visit my girlfriend and I'll be back like in an hour and a half' and that was it, when he got the call that Mark died in an accident."

"You think alcohol drinking may have been a factor?"
Felicia Richards

"Well I don't know, I didn't ask if he was drinking."
Jules Vasquez
"You've seen the accident seen. He didn't have a chance."
Felicia Richards
"No."
Police have taken samples to determine if alcohol was a factor for either driver. The driver of the bus, Osman Ordonez has been served with a notice of intended prosecution as a matter of procedure.
