Thirty three year old Stackles Monsanto, who has had several -run ins- with the law, was charged with robbery again when he appeared today in Magistrate's Court.

Monsanto pleaded not guilty to the charge. Magistrate Emmerson Banner did not set an adjourned date or decide whether Monsanto should be granted bail because Monsanto said he was beaten by the police.

He ordered that Monsanto be taken to the hospital for treatment and remanded Monsanto into custody until tomorrow. The incident occurred on Friday, February 25.

The complaint, 20 year old student Idolly Saldivar, reported to the police that while she was at a Chinese shop on Cemetery Road with her boyfriend, Monsanto took her cell phone from the back pocket of her pants. She said she struggled with Monsanto but Monsanto still managed to wrest away the cell phone.
