Marcus Moh killed a man with an AK47, admitted to it, pleaded down to manslaughter and Justice Adolph Lucas sent him to jail for 20 years for it.

But today, the Court Of Appeals reduced the 33 year old Sarteneja fisherman's sentence. The panel of judges said that Moh's case was that of a young man defending his economic interest and his sentence was, quote, "manifestly excessive." The judges also said that the fact that Moh pleaded guilty should have been accorded greater importance. With that, his sentence was reduced from 20 years to 16 years.

Moh's conviction was for the fatal shooting of fisherman Kirk Smith on October 10, 2008 which took place near to Turneffe Island.

Smith was shot several times with an AK47 assault rifle while he and two other men were diving for lobsters. Moh gave the police a caution statement and took them to a location near his camp at Turneffe and pointed out the weapon he used to kill Smith.
