A few days ago Calvin Palma told police he ran away from a gunman - but today he's on the run from police after the 21 year old was convicted in absentia.
Twenty One year old Calvin Palma, one of two persons charged with kept firearm and ammunition without a gun license, was sentenced to two years for each count today in the #8 Magistrate's Court after he was found guilty of the charges. Palma was not present in court today to make defense and he was found guilty in his absence.
The charges against the second defendant, 19 year old Michael Velasquez, were dismissed by the Magistrate, Emmerson Banner, because the evidence showed that it was Palma who gave Velasquez the gun and it was Palma who took the police to where the gun was.
Palma and Velasquez were also charged with attempted robbery but that charge was withdrawn when the complainant did not appear to testify.
The charges were in connection with an incident which occurred on December 17, 2009, on Faber's Road. The police responded to a robbery attempt and when they arrived at the scene they found Palma and Velasquez. Palma then took them to an abandoned house on Faber's Road where they retrieved one point 32 revolver with 6 rounds of ammunition.
