Yesterday we told you about a group of four charged for a bank robbery in Orange Walk.

Well, there was also a bank robbery in that town in March of 2004 - in which one of the robbers was killed and fifty one thousand dollars was stolen.

Now, 7 years and a month later, three men charged with that robbery were acquitted of the charge yesterday in the court of Justice Denis Hano-man-singh in the Northern District session of the Supreme Court.

They are Israil Carpio, Timoteo Juminez and Juan Rivas Arce. The Prosecution's case fell apart when the caution statements made by the 3 accused were not admitted as evidence. Although several police officers testified that the statements were given voluntarily, the trial judge said that the witnesses were not enough because a number of police officers had dealt with the case.

Without the caution statements the prosecution had no further evidence to offer. As a result the judge directed the jury to return a formal verdict of not guilty. The 3 accused were not represented by an attorney.

Senior Crown Counsel Cecil Ramirez represented the prosecution.
