And rounding out the crime and violence news, there was an armed robbery at a warehouse off the Northern Highway last night.
It happened at Circle R Food Supply which is a warehouse for rice, flour and sugar off mile four on the northern highway.
At 9:00 pm, a trio of truck drivers were returning from making their daily sales when they were ambushed by two masked men: one with a machete, the other with a shotgun.
Sergeant Yearwood told us what happened next:
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood
"When the truck came in, they were accosted by two armed men who removed about $6,000 in cash, and about $30,000 in check. We know that one of these men - one of the employees - was injured, but I know, previously some media houses said that it was gunshot. He received what appears to be chop-wounds, and we are investigating that also."
Jules Vasquez
"However, shots were fired, we are told, at one of the other employees, who subsequently broke his leg."
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood
"Yes, but that broken leg was not as a result of a gunshot."
