An ex-police officer with sticky fingers was charged with theft today when he appeared in the #4 Magistrate's court. 25 year old Michael Diaz was convicted only a year ago of a similar charge of theft. Diaz pleaded not guilty to the charge, but was remanded into custody after the Magistrate upheld the prosecution's objection to bail on the grounds that he is a former police constable with a previous conviction. The incident occurred around 12:30 P.M. on January 20th, but Diaz was not detained by police until yesterday. The complainant, 67 year Wilword Banner, a resident of Burrell Boom, reported that he was at the corner of Euphrates Avenue and Cemetery Road putting groceries into his vehicle, when Diaz rode by on a bicycle and snatched his gold chain, valued at Six Hundred dollars from around his neck….
