Two adults, one accused of carnal knowledge of a 12 year old girl, and the other with abetment of the charge of carnal knowledge of the same girl, were acquitted of the charges today.
The prosecution was forced to close the case against the two, 21 year old Calvin Palma and his alleged accomplice Rhonda Burns, after the minor took the witness stand and testified that she did not know the two defendants.
The case arose out of an incident which took place in December of 2008. The child had reported to police that Palma had sex with her, while Burns held her.
Palma was charged with carnal knowledge while Burns was charged with abetment of carnal knowledge. The two were represented by Attorney Ernest Staine, while Crown Counsel Meighan Francis represented the prosecution.
