And while we certainly hope those recruits go unto great things, one former soldier went to court in shame today. Thirty two year old ex BDF soldier Harvey Sambula, a fort Point Security Guard who allegedly pistol whipped 44 year old Tour Guide Dean Smith, was charged with aggravated assault and wounding when he appeared today in the Magistrate's Court. Sambula pleaded not guilty to the charges. Chief magistrate Margret McKenzie explained to him that the court cannot offer him bail because the offences were committed with a firearm. She remanded him into custody until July 14. The incident occurred around 1:15a.m this morning.
Smith reported to the police that he was at Princess Hotel and Casino, and went to urinate on the fence at the front of the compound. When he was finished, Sambula, who was working as a security guard, asked him why he did it. Smith said he told Sambula he had already urinated - meaning ti was too late to do anything about it - and Sambula struck him on his month with a pistol and knocked 5 teeth out of his mouth.
