A well-known police constable was shot in Punta Gorda on Friday night. At 7:30, PC 192 David Griffith was walking on Front Street when he was shot in the leg.
Griffith said that he saw an unidentified fair-skinned man running from the area. He was off duty at the time. Griffith was treated and discharged himself from the hospital.
Griffith was recently in the news when he accused Danalyn Muurillo of verbally assaulting him at a public event. Murillo has maintained that Griffith was involved in the still unsolved murder of her son Teddy - a charge with Griffith has outrightly rejected.
