On last night's news we had a brief story on the terrible event that Hattieville resident Gilda Flowers endured. She was inside her home on Saturday evening when a man known to her as Junior stormed in and started wrecking the place. He eventually set it on fire - and burn up everything she and her two small girls owned - including their school uniforms and school books.

We met the dislocated mother today - and she is in dire straits - here's what she told us:….

Gilda Flowers
"When I look I heard a noise outside - this man came and says that he will kill us, he starts breaking the windows, then the door and then he enter the house and start to chop us everything in the house, then he went in the bedroom and break the bed, and the windows. He knocks me down in the house and after that he went out of the house. I try to take out the little things I had left and went to the police station. On our way to the police station the man threaten to kill us because we kill his dog. At the police station we got a call saying that the house is on fire. The police ask if when I left is the house was on fire and I told him no. They say that maybe the man put the house on fire."

Jules Vasquez
"Do you have any relationship with this man? Do you know him? Do you do anything to him?"

Gilda Flowers

"No sir."

Jules Vasquez
"So then why did he?"

Gilbert Domingo, Chairman - Hattieville
"This was a guy that some people say are mentally ill and disturb and I don't know what is the situation with her and the guy personally, but we also understand that the guy have a family relation with the owner of the house."

Jules Vasquez
"Explain your situation right now?"

Gilda Flowers

"It's bad, I came in this house but this house is not good. Every time I get up I feel like O want to vomit because no one wants to live like this. My children need clothes, they need shoes for their feet, their school uniforms are burnt up, their school bag and books are burnt up, everything is burnt up."

Gilbert Domingo, Chairman - Hattieville
"She is sheltering in this place right now but this place doesn't have a roof, this doesn't have anything so I am going to be going to bring the minister in today to take a look at her and see the situation and see how quickly we could assist

her in getting her somewhere to stay. She have two kids and since he live in Hattieville over a year now we've been assisting the kids on different occasions making sure that every little things that are available we make sure they get a part of it like assistance for school, clothes and different things like that. We just got to do what we could because she is a part of us."

Gilda Flowers has no phone, so anyone wanting to help can call the village Chairman at 669-9878.
