Last night on this newscast, you heard Estelita Romero the ex-common-law wife of ASP Marco Vidal demand that the high profile GSU Commander be charged for the harm of their 7 year old daughter.
As we noted, Vidal is now married to DPP Cheryl-Lyn Vidal and this evening she issued us a written statement. It says: The version…given of this incident is steeped in falsehood. The basis suggested for the correction of the child is patently untrue. I do not think it necessary to publicize the details of the child's misconduct. While other persons with not so hidden agendas are clearly not at all concerned with exposing the child, I think it unbecoming to do so. Suffice it to say that it was conduct grave enough to warrant the imposition of that form of punishment…the correction administered did not exceed acceptable limits."
Cheryl Lyn Vidal adds that quote, "I was there when the child was corrected. Further, the doctor who examined the child gave the least classification of the injury possible. Had she received one lash the classification would have been the same, so that report is by no means suggesting that force beyond permissible limits, legally, biblically or otherwise, was used."
She closes by saying that, quote:
"I think that it is also terribly tragic that an attempt is being made to characterize Vidal as an abusive father. Nothing could be further from the truth." She adds that the children's mother, Estelita Romero has "maintained minimal contact with them." She adds that hr husband's greatest concern at present is the trauma that (the children) are experiencing while they are being unnecessarily steered, coached and prodded." End quote.
And what about the criminal investigation?
The DPP says, quote:
"As to any criminal investigation that may be ongoing, I am obviously not at all involved in it in any way, nor is anyone who works under me."
Romero has said she will continue to press until her ex is charged for harm.
