This afternoon in the city - a 17 year old was killed. Kadeem Mansanto was walking on Mopan Street - which is near to the City Center - when two men on bicycles rode past. One of them then jumped off his bike and shot Mansanto at close range. The teenager was shot in his back and died half an hour later at the KHMH.

Monica Bodden spoke to his family this evening - who told us that he was not only shot, he was also beaten after collapsing to the ground:

Yvette Sutherland, mother
"I was at work and I got a call and they told me that my son got shot, but they say that he was not in a serious condition because he was talking. So I just ask my boss if I could go home. I went to the hospital, when I reach there I ask for his name and they told me that he is critical but they didn't tell me anything else. I couldn't go inside to see him; they say that I have to wait. The doctor is attending to him for half an hour and half hour after they say that he dies."

Monica Bodden
"He was shot where?"

Yvette Sutherland, mother
"He got shot two times in his back."

Reporter
"What part of is back?"

Yvette Sutherland, mother

"On the right side, the lower and upper part. They say after they shot him the gunman stand up over him and pull the trigger at his head but the gun snap and when that happen he beat him in his head because his forehead is swollen."

Monica Bodden
"Did he tell you if he was having problems with anybody?"

Yvette Sutherland, mother
"He told me that he has problem with one person and everybody knows the boy. But I don't know him and I know his name but I don't know his face."

Monica Bodden
"He was getting threats?"

Yvette Sutherland, mother
"Yes, every time the boy sees my son - my son have to run and he is a young boy just like my son, It not an older person."

Monica Bodden
"Lastly if you could say something to that person who took your son's life what would that be?"

Yvette Sutherland, mother
"I know who it is. I know you, everybody see you and it is not going to end like that."

Another person was injured in the accident. She is Carla Young - who was driving past when the shooting occurred. Her windshield was smashed - presumably by a bullet or shrapnel - and the splintered glass damaged her eyes.
