And turning now to crime, there were two armed robberies yesterday: one in Dangriga, the other in the Cayo district. The first reportedly happened in broad daylight in Dangriga town. It happened at Hinkee Store on Commerce Street at 4:40 where two armed men held up the store-owner and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash and phone cards. And then, last night at 8:00 in Bullet Tree village outside of San Ignacio town, there was an armed robbery at another Chinese store, this time it was Maxwell Supermarket.
A pair of armed men got off with 500 dollars in cash and then ran towards a their getaway car, which was waiting around the corner. Police say that Jessica Lamb was the driver and claim that her boyfriend Khadir Habet was also inside the car. Police pursued the car and eventually found it parked on the Bullett Tree road with no one inside. IT was in front of Habet's house and both he and Jessica Lamb were detained while the car was impounded. Habet is no stranger to crime he has been convicted for robbery before. Police have a photograph of one of the other two persons who are presently being sought.
