In June, 47 year old Danalyn Murillo was charged for using insulting words on the police officer she accuses of killing her son, Police Constable David Griffith.
We stress that Griffith has never been formally accused or charged - but when Murillo saw him at the PUP convention in Port Loyola in March she allegedly berated him publicly.
Griffith said he was being systematically harassed, so he pressed charges - and months later, in June, police charged Murillo for insulting words. Now, those charges have been withdrawn. It happened today in the number one Magistrate's Court when the police prosecutor withdrew the charges without explanation.
According to reports, the order to withdraw came down from the Department's senior command - but that could not be confirmed. Regardless, Griffith gave every indication he was willing to proceed with the charges and told the court he was prepared to testify. He said that he was not satisfied and that no explanation was given to him as to why the charges were being withdrawn.
