There was a minor accident at mile 2 on the Western highway today - where no one was hurt, but two passengers bumped their heads.

But the accident is an illustration of the many dangers that arise as the city expands westward and northward and major highways come into use as streets.

One driver in a Kia Sportage was taking a left to stop at the West-Trac Auto parts store when the other - who was test driving a Ford Ranger pickup crashed into her, side on.

We spoke to both drivers:

Carl Trapp - Driving Pick-up

"Upon arriving in front of Westrac, on the Western Highway, going in a westerly direction, a red SUV swerved in front of us, and we tried to avoid hitting the SUV. And, as you notice, we didn't succeed in that - as a matter of fact, an accident resulted with us running into the side of the SUV. But the SUV had not indication that the driver was pulling over on the left. And as this is a main highway, I think that the driver is supposed to know that she was supposed to remain on the right side until ongoing traffic pass. And then she can safely make her left turn."

Pearline Noralez - Driving SUV

"Man, This is my fault, but I made the indicator to go across, and I was almost across the road when the vehicle hit me to the back of my vehicle. If I wasn't so far across - he is saying that I should have waited - but don't you see something come there? And he was come with a lot of speed; all I felt was a bang to my backdoor. He is saying that I ran into him. How can I run into him if my front - my front would have gotten hit. My front isn't touched; it's just the backdoor that got touched. But as they said, I'm in the wrong, so what can I say. I just have to admit that I am in the wrong. The good Lord wasn't me - the good Lord was with me Jules, because if I wasn't I don't know what would have happened. All I got is a little bump here, and it's going down. With all that speed that he came with, I don't know."

The man in the Ford Ranger said he had done all the tests and was taking it for one last road tests before he bought it. Both vehicles appear to have structural damages and may be write - off's...
