A man who cleaned out a bar - the illegal way - by stealing all the liquor, will serve 10 years in prison for the crime - and he didn't seem to mind when he was sentenced today.
42 year old Edward Usher, a mason of Myvett Street in Hattieville who stole $716.00 worth of assorted liquor was sentenced to 10 years by magistrate Roberto Ordonez after he pleaded guilty to burglary.
Usher said he has been a drug addict for 10 years and he wants to go to prison because he needs a rest. Usher had six previous convictions for dishonesty.
The burglary occurred earlier this week at Bombay Cool Spot at mile 15 and a half on the Western Highway. Usher was detained yesterday and police say he got into the bar by removing a siding on the building. He was seen by witnesses breaking and entering the building. The liquor and cigarettes were not recovered.
