Police have made an arrest for the murder of 45 year old Domiciano Quixchan, and as the Cayo Star Newspaper details, the story of the killing is far different than what was originally told to police.

First of all, the accused Hernan Manzanero, originally told the police that he was along with the taxi driver when they were robbed on the Pine Ridge Road, supposedly by two black men.

So - as the STAR explains, the Police began the investigation on the premise that the crime was committed by those two unmasked men. But the investigation quickly began to reveal otherwise.

Police found out that Manzanero was believed Quixchan was sexually involved with his 17 year old common-law wife. Around 11 on the morning of the murder Manzanero, and his 17 year old common-law along with their month old daughter, boarded Quixchan's taxi for a ride to El Progresso Village, Manazanero sat in the back while Quixchan and the young mother sat in the front. After a few miles, Manzanero - right there in the presence of his wife and newborn - pulled out a bread knife and raked it across Quixchan's throat. Quixchan stopped the car and ran out, trying to escape from Manzanero. They struggled and that's when Quixchan got control of the knife and sliced Manzanero to the left side of the face.

Quixchan reportedly threw down the knife and told Manazanero that he did not want any further problems. But when Quixchan began walking away Manzanero reportedly got up, picked up the knife and a stone, struck him with the stone and as he fell to the ground cut his throat.

The story about two mystery men doing this in the middle of nowhere began to fall apart as the common-law wife was interviewed and offered a caution statement. Manzanero was formally arrested and charged for murder yesterday. HE ahs been remanded to prison.
