He was charged with the stabbing of a police officer at a city night club in November of 2009, but today, a jury of 9 women deliberated for 3 hours and found 25 year old printer Eusebio Cal not guilty.
Police had charged Cal with the use of deadly means of harm with intent to cause grievous harm on police constable Eric Patt. The incident occurred on November 26th, 2009 in front of Cabana Club, located on East Collet Canal Street.
Cal is alleged to have used a piece of broken bottle to stab Patt on the right side of his rib cage. Two other police officers testified they saw Cal stab Patt with the broken bottle, but there was inconsistency in their testimonies.
Cal gave a statement from the dock in which he denied stabbing Patt. He said he was involved in an altercation with the police officers, and was beaten unconscious.
The prosecution was represented by Crown Counsel Sharmela Williams. Cal was not represented by an attorney.
