Last night the news was about Alvin "Vinny" Pascascio, a Ladyville resident who turned up dead 2 and a half days after he was abducted. A police press release says he was shot three times to the back of the head and his throat was also slit. One man has been detained for questioning.
And while that murder is being investigated, the worries are mounting for another Ladyville family whose loved one went missing around the same time as Pascascio. He is 20 year old Jared Bainton and he was last seen on Saturday June 29th. Now a week has gone with no word and no sighting, and his family fears that he too has been killed because the two were acqaintances. Today, Monica Bodden spoke to his grandmother:
Olivia Bainton - Grandmother of Jarett Bainton

"I know Jared because I am the one that raised him with his mother and Jared never leaves this house without coming home so Saturday night I know he came to work because the young lady that he came along with saw him coming because he went to her yard and I think that was the same night before he reached work they came to pick him up. That was it because the Sunday morning I was sitting here and I was waiting for him to come and this child didn't show up because he's not like that. Sunday I went to a baby shower by Mr. Bailey and when I came back, as I got into the house the first thing I said 'Shanine have you seen Jared' and she told me no. Sunday night came, Monday morning came, Monday evening came and when his mom came from work - I told her 'Diana something is wrong with Jared because he is not this person that I know'. Tuesday morning I told her to go and report it to the police because something is wrong Jared. We had a false tip off yesterday because someone called saying that a body was found in Vista del Mar and the police came and the police went to Bobo Hill but when they got there, no one was there so I had some church sisters here visiting me sympathizing with me about Jared. When they got there Pastor Brown was there he took my son that is in the BDF and his wife and Jared's mother and they all went to Bobo Hill looking for this body and they were all in the corners looking for him - and no where to be found."

"Now Jared and Alvin - the young man that they found on Vista del Mar road murdered, did they know each other?"
Olivia Bainton
"I heard that they knew each other but I don't know the young man. I don't know if they know each other but they would just walk along each other and go about together but he is not that type of person to say that he is in gang. I can say that for myself because I know him from he was born and he doesn't mess around."
Monica Bodden
"Are you guys thinking the worst?"
Olivia Bainton
"Oh yes, I said that something must have killed him and buried him because it's 6 days now and he is not that kind of person. So they must have killed him or throw him away or buried him somewhere."
Monica Bodden
"And even if it is the worst and Jared is dead - how important it is for the family to at least find that body for some closure?"
Olivia Bainton
"That's what his mother is hoping for - even my son that is in the BDF said that's what they need to find that body so that they could have closure for this child because he's a human being. His life should not have been taken away from him like that."
