22 year-old Lloyd Eligio will spend 12 years in jail, that's the sentence Justice Troadio Gonzalez handed him today after his mitigation hearing.

As we told you, in the trial, Eligio tried to convince his victim, Mark Lord, and the jury that Lord was mistaken when he accused Eligio of being the gunman who tried to execute him in October 2009. This morning, He took a complete reversal in position when he told the court he was sorry for what he did, and begged for leniency.

After considering all the factors, Justice Gonzalez decided that he should spend 12 years in prison, which will be recorded as commencing from last week Monday, when he was first convicted.

Lord testified that October 25, 2009 Eligio followed him to Hyde's Lane where Eligio shot him in the chest before running off.
