And as you heard in that interview, when Dwayne Hilton was murdered, police were nearby - right at the Faber's Road sewage ponds known as the Dyke area. They were there with the body of an unidentified man who was killed in particularly cruel fashion: cut from neck to navel.
He was identified last night when his grandmother watched the news and heard the description os his tattoo: he is 29 year old David Dwayne Copious from Jane Usher which is right next to the sewage ponds. His family last saw him on Monday evening.
His niece told us they too are shocked because he was not known to be involved in gang activity:..
Latifah Sutherland, Niece of deceased
"My granny sent me a text last night after 11 saying that it was my uncle because of the stuff that they said they found on the body and the tattoo. And according to her, she didn't see him from Monday and he is not a person that would stay out. If he stays out one night, he would not stay out for two nights - he would have come home."
Jules Vasquez
"So he didn't have any enemies or like he is one crew and somebody else is with another crew.."
Latifah Sutherland
"No, he has friends that I would think caused this to happen. He had friends that I would say to talk to, but not to say like to get into an altercation or jump into a fight with them to hurt somebody. He wasn't that type of person."
"He was just around trying to hustle a little money to help the little boy he called his son. Nobody is not really sure, everybody is just in a shock that this whole thing took place. We are in severe pain because this is a huge loss for us. I don't know who could have done this to him. You don't wish bad on people and to the person who did this don't wish anything bad on them but I just want them to know that they took away somebody from us who we really loved and cared for. And whatever they did to my uncle Monday or whenever they did it, I just want them to know that they will come back to face it because the world is cycle and everything you do has to come back to meet you. It doesn't matter if its 20-30 years after, it will come back."
Unfortunately for the family, police had to bury him as a "John Doe" before police learned of an identification.
