33 Year old Santana villager Victor Hugo Pratt was killed in a road accident yesterday afternoon just before entering Sandhill village. It happened at about 2:30, when Pratt was on his way to run an errand in Belize City. That's when he lost control of his motorcycle and ran off the highway.

Today Cherisse Halsall traveled to Pratt's village to speak to his father about the tragic loss.

This motorcycle cuts a solitary figure leaned up as it is at the Sandhill police station. It's owner 33- year old Victor Pratt died yesterday while traveling from Santa. Anna into Sand Hill. It's a tragedy that's robbed a family of a father and a provider. It's also taken a hard-working son from his namesake

"He is my son I am Victor Hugo Pratt Sr. he was jr. I named him after me."

Cherisse Halsall:
"Now, Sir what was your last interaction with Victor because I know you say he was a bit frustrated when he took this trip?"

Victor Pratt Sr., Father of the deceased

"Well, not really frustrated but you know like when you have things to do and then you have your workman and they need, they are in need so that is what must have thrown him off and he said let me try to make this move and because he was supposed to go and come back, by 6:30 0r 7:00 he was supposed to have been back here but you see what happened."

"It was for the benefit of the people and the work staff that was the main objectives of his movements, for the benefit of the people and you know usually as the bossman you run some lee funds and you want to see that his workmen get their little funds because some works that they are producing, the works are right in the yard there."

Victor Sr. says that his son was attempting to take care of everyone when misfortune struck.

Victor Pratt Sr., Father of the deceased
"I was made to understand that he must have broke his speed and eventually he just, according to what i'm understanding that is the information that I gathered from the people them."

"Like I said right now the way we were trying to work things out was to get things put together and like a man he has to work to earn himself a living you understand so that was just it right there, you know and seeking for others as well as for himself, that's the way that life is set up."

"They said they would make preparation and clean the grass to the burying ground that's right there."

And even though Pratt failed to complete his errand he still has the loyalty of those workmen. Men who today were hard at work clearing a path to what will become his final resting place.

Pratt's death is especially hard for the family coming shortly after his mother's recent passing. He leaves behind two children.
