There hasn't been a flight of Belizean deportees from the United States since March when COVID numbers started to go up worldwide. You may recall that in Guatemala, back in April, the President said that the "vuelo maldito" or "cursed flight" in March delivered a number of COVID infected persons to Guatemala from US detention facilities -causing a spike in cases there.
Well, Belize got its first deportee flight in months today. 25 Belizeans who have been convicted and served time in the US came on the flight out of the US state of Mississippi. They came from holding centers all across the US ranging from Texas, to Nevada, to California to Georgia - all COVID heavy states.
They were all tested for CVOID 19, and will be held in quarantine at a camp in the Cayo, District.
