Escapee’s Mom Cries

As you saw in our story, one of the escaped prisoners who was arraigned today is 22-year-old Deon White. You'll remember his sister, Deidra Avila, who appeared on our newscast to send out an emotional plea for him to turn himself in, before he got seriously hurt.

This afternoon, White's mother was at the Magistrate's Court to check on him, because according to her, Smith was beaten by police while in custody, after he had surrendered to their authority.

Here's her angry condemnation of alleged police brutality that he suffered after he was recaptured:
