A 10-year-old female minor was raped by burglars who broke into her family house last Friday. The thieves were attempting to find money and valuables in the home, and in the process of cleaning it out, one of the culprits sexually molested her.

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"On Friday last, sometime after 11 a.m., a 31-year-old mother accompanied by her 10-year-old daughter visited the Punta Gorda Police Station, where she reported that she had left her children, her 2 female children, ages 10 and 5 years old, in the company of a domestic worker who works for them. And during the course, sometime around 10:30 a.m., the domestic worker left to run an errand, leaving the 2 minors, when they were approached by 2 Creole-descent male persons, who entered the home and demanded monies. As a result, the home was ransacked, and the 10-year-old was eventually raped or sexually assaulted by one of those persons. Police are conducting an investigation into this matter. We're looking at several leads, which we are following in relation to this investigation."

According to police, a medical examination has confirmed that the 10-year-old was molested.
