Man Hanged Himself Near Kontiki

A decomposed body was found in an abandoned area near Konitki on the outskirts of San Ignacio Town this afternoon. It raised some alarm because the skull had departed from the skeletal remains - which were hanging from a tree.

Late reports say that a forensic examination indicates that the person died from hanging - but that it was most likely a suicide.

A rope was found in a tree close to the body. Police believe it is a local man who was reported missing after Christmas.
