Julie Magali lost her house back in December when a truck ran into it, completely destroying the structure and its contents. No one was injured, and the truck's insurance company promised her a new home before Christmas. In addition, the owner of the truck promised to pay Magali's rent since she was forced to move into an apartment for the time being. But both of those promises weren't fulfilled. And as the insurance company takes its sweet time to purchase a new home for the family of four, Magali's brother says she has to pay the rent out of her pocket. We spoke to him via phone.
The family's attorney, Steve Perera, told us today that the insurance company contacted him just today - perhaps after seeing the family's interview. He's hoping that the matter won't reach the courts.
The family's possessions were all destroyed, and Perera has included the items in their claim as well.
