
Prominent Mayflower Street figure Jervis Diamond Valencia was shot on January 26th, and police have now charged two people for his attempted murder.
The first was his cousin, Kareem Kelly and, today, 25-year-old Calbert Humes was accused of facilitating Kelly.
Humes was arraigned today before Magistrate Stephanie Gillett on the single charge of abetment to murder. No plea was taken, and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until April 26th, 2021.
As we reported, On Tuesday, January 26th, Valencia reportedly was sitting in a yard in his home turf, when he was approached by five men. One of them pulled out a gun and opened fire on him. Diamond Valencia - who has been shot before - tried to escape through an alley. But, He was injured to the lower abdomen, groin, and leg.
Humes now lives in Hopkins but was a former resident of the Mayflower street area.
