The investigation also continues into the midday murder of Belmopan fishmonger Rejinaldo Ruiz.
It's an act of extreme public violence that's unsettled citizens of the capital, casting a pall of panic on the mid-week shopping trip.
But while we thought we knew the story there was a missing element to last week's report: turns out the murderer arrived and fled the scene on a stolen horse. ACP Myvette told us more.
ACP Joseph Myvette
"So far a number of persons have been detained and interviewed it's still an ongoing investigation. The police have followed several leads and we will continue to pursue this investigation. Those persons who were detained and had to be released were released pending further investigation into this matter."
Cherisse Halsall:
"Sir last week there were reports that the murderer, in this case, escaped on a horse, did the police get any information like that?"
ACP Joseph Myvette

"Yes, that is the indication that the police had gotten that the person had arrived on a horse and then he dismounted the horse right near the social security building where he just walked across, approached the now deceased, and fired several shots in his direction, and then ran back across the street got on his horse and then headed toward the central walkway. We have also interviewed a. Number of witnesses and during the course of our investigation, one of those persons who were detained, who is the owner of a horse from Roaring Creek village reported that he had recently lost his horse, or that it was stolen, a little or a few minutes before the incident."
Cherisse Halsall:
"So, sir the horse hasn't been detained?"
ACP Joseph Myvette
"Um no."
