The Ministry of Natural Resources, Petroleum, and Mining is sounding an alarm that persons are bringing forged documents to the Lands Department as supposed proof of payment for land transactions.

These forged documents include, but are not limited to, the purchase price, transfer fees, and other fees that are charged by and payable to the Lands Department. Persons are also presenting forged certificates for title and lease certificates that were supposedly issued by the Lands Registry.

The Ministry is also asserting that "certain persons, including former employees of the Lands and Surveys Department, have been misrepresenting themselves to the general public. They are showing up and insisting that they have the authority to conduct business on behalf of the Department and Ministry.

The Ministry is recommending that if you suspect that you are in possession of forged documents, you should contact the Lands Department to have their authenticity verified. The public is warned to take note and exercise extreme caution.
