And there's also a Guatemalan link to some human remains found off the Black Rock Road in the Cayo District in January. Again, these are believed to have washed up form the river - but this victim was a Guatemalan from Saint Matthews village, Belize.
Through some fancy forensic work - the science was able to shed some light on a particular identifying characteristic of the victim - a tattoo. Now, DNA testing has led to a positive identification. ACP Myvett told us more:
The forensic process used is called rehydrating a tattoo. It led to closing this within 2.5 months, which is much faster than usual.
