This morning, several hours before the final confirmation that Carlos Guerra had drowned, the Police spokesperson said there had been an intensive search effort:

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood - Director of Communications, ComPol's Office

"We cannot say drowning as yet, because I am certain that the Coast Guard along with villagers, family, and friends are presently searching for Mr. Guerra. We know that on the 1st of August, on Sunday, sometime after 5:30 p.m., Mr. Guerra was with his common-law and family in the Dark Knight area at Franks Eddy Village. They are saying - what they have told police so far is that he entered the river somewhere around the bridge area. He was walking toward them when he was swept away by a current in the river. I have not been to that area, so I would know exactly a description of that zone. But, I know that they contacted police right away, and the search was initiated by them, and later joined by Coast Guard personnel. And up to now, they are still out there."

"Is there waning hope that he may be found alive, sir?"

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood
"Well, whenever anyone goes missing, we pray very hard, to find them, one, to bring closure to their families, and as I said, the preservation of life is very important to us. So, we are praying that we get a positive call that maybe somewhere down the river, he would be found alive."
