And the evidence on that video - compared to the untruths in the police statement is what is fuelling RAGE in Santa Familia village tonight where the situation is very volatile.

Tonight, villagers are blocking the two main roads with tyre fires - which poses the risk of stranding the police officers in the station.

Police fear that the villagers could be planning an attack on the police station.

They also fear that villagers could be armed with guns and machetes.

The situation remains tense.

CWU WALKS OUT

Stevedores walked out of the Ministry of Labour's Essential Services Arbitration Tribunal Meeting today.

It's a move that came after the Stevedore negotiating team asked the NTUCB's Luke Martinez to withdraw participation, thereby putting an end to the Tribunal's required quorum.

A press release from the Christian workers union today says, quote: "The Stevedores/CWU request to NTUCB was made as a direct response to the Ministry of Labor's formal letter sent to CWU on August 24th, 2021."

That Letter ended a commitment that the Ministry had made to mediate the negotiations between PBL and the Union, with one of the key matters being compensation to Stevedores for lost earnings as a result of the decision of ASR/BSI to relocate its raw sugar export point to the Big Creek Port.

And tonight, The CWU continues to reiterate its demand that the Labour Ministry comply with July 21, 2021, Agreement, and commit to mediate the negotiations between PBL and the Union.
