Turning now to the deepening COVID crisis…
Tonight, another Belizean man has died due to complications caused by COVID-19. That 364th death comes as the numbers of new confirmed cases, 200 this evening, continue to rise.
And as you'll hear in our next story 24 of those cases are currently hospitalized with 8 of them in the Covid ICU.
Tonight, much like last week, those numbers remain concentrated in the Belize district which is responsible for 81 cases with 61 of those localized in Belize City.
An additional 276 people are newly under investigation after close contact with an infected person.
And while the official weekend numbers are only reporting one COVID death, we know of at least three in the city: BTL Employee Thomas Wade and two pregnant women, Nicole Baptist and Erlene Baizer.
WE note that authorities say that two of them died at home - not at the hospital - which may slow down the process of them being added to the tally of deaths.
