Red Bank Robbery

Drivers travelling on the Hummingbird Highway tonight are being advised by the police not to pick up any hitchhikers since one of them may turn out to be a suspect in a robbery in Red Bank.

The robbery took place at an Asian store in the village earlier today, and police set up a checkpoint at mile 6 to try and catch the culprits. A shootout and car chase ensued between the officers and the robbers, and the getaway vehicle overturned by the six mile junction. The robbers rushed out of the vehicle and fled the scene. Footage captured at the scene shows police across the highway - with their guns drawn. But, the men escaped into the bush and the police are now searching for them in that area.
