The Commissioner also discussed that incident in Belize City where a group of minors almost lost their lives during a high-speed chase with the police.

Police say that they were fleeing from Faber's Road where occupants of the vehicle had attempted to execute some sort of drive-by shooting.

Police were in the area and responded immediately, and they set chase after the shooters until their vehicle spun out of control at the corner of Central American and Jane Usher Boulevards.

The ComPol told us that they are getting ready to make arrests, even though the would-be victims of the original shooting incident are refusing to cooperate with police:

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"I know that the person of concern who is a fellow Williams, but no relative of mine, is still in the hospital under police guard. We do still have two persons in custody in respect of that matter and investigators are working tirelessly to put the pieces together. But again, we are seeing where the two persons that were shot on Faber's Road that led to the pursuit are not cooperating with police as much as they should and so that is putting some strain on the investigation. Nonetheless, we are certain that we will be able to bring charges against the fellow Williams who was the one who rented the van or the vehicle, as well as another person who was identified by the police in the vehicle at which time he was armed with what the officer said was a firearm and he pointed towards the police and fired shots. So at least in respect of those two persons for aggravated assault upon the police officer we will be bringing charges hopefully very soon."
