But one thing the PUP has made abundantly clear is that they want to get children in classes ASAP. Next March will be two years that they've been out of class and it hasn't been easy, between issues with online classes, not being able to communicate with teachers if they don't have access to the internet, and the absence of socialization with their peers. This morning, the PM highlighted, again, the need for children to return to face to face classes.

Hon John Briceno, Prime Minister

"I believe we have to do everything possible to get the children back in school because our children are losing, many of them are not keeping up with what they're supposed to learn online. Rossana is a teacher and she was lamenting that last year was a lost year for the children and she as a principal and a person that has so much more experience in education, certainly more than I do, is telling me we have to find a way to get children into schools. Many countries in the world, the children are back in school, in Mexico the children are back in school, will children get sick? Yes it will happen but we just have to do everything possible to protect our children, we have to start off by every teacher to be vaccinated, which I wanted to congratulate Senator Smith, the president of the BNTU, she has been pushing her teachers to get vaccinated and they're close to 100%. Almost all of them are vaccinated so that's a good start but we need to find a way to get our children back to school, part of it is learning the subjects, but also the socialization which is something our children are losing on, that is an important aspect of growing up."
