The speakeasy cattle trade continues at the southern border through Jalacte on an almost daily basis - and yesterday police had to chase after a cattle truck that was also carrying cocaine.
Yesterday at around noon, a Hino Cattle Truck pulled dup at the Jalacte border crossing. Police expected them to stop but instead, they sped off toward Santa Cruz, Guatemala.
That's when the police gave chase catching up with them right near the TreeTops Junction.
The cops pulled the men, 26-year-old Guatemalan Angel Cal Xo and 22-year-old Belizean Edgar Cal, from the truck and after a search discovered 5 brown parcels containing 12 pounds of suspected cocaine.
Both men were detained and have since been charged with possession of a controlled drug with the intent to supply. They are residents of Jalacte.
