One of the first people on the scene was Wil Maheia, the well-known border activist and politician from Punta Gorda Town.

This evening, he told us what he saw when he passed by the area where the motorcycle and the bicycle had crashed:

Wil Maheia, Motorist

"Just right there by the Laguna junction on the PG San Antonio Road, the road heading out of PG going to San Antonio. Some people called it the southern highway, but really its the PG San Antonio Road and just by the Laguna junction when coming from PG in the direction of San Antonio, I was coming and I saw some cell phone lights and stuff like that and when I got closer, I saw like 3 bodies on the ground with broken parts of motorcycle and bicycle all over the highway. I was really astonished at what I saw. I think especially around holiday time I would like to see the breathalysers that we got into this country get into effect."

Reports say that the authorities arrived after an extended delay. There are concerns that a quicker response would have allowed the deceased a better opportunity at survival.
