And there is reason to be concerned also in the killing of 26-year-old Jeffrey Buller.
As we reported, Buller was also gunned down early on Saturday morning. At around midnight, he and a companion went to their neighborhood restaurant to purchase some food - when they were targeted by 2 gunmen with whom Buller may have had a dispute the night before.
The Commissioner says that according to police information, his murder may be gang-related:
Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police

"The same is being done in the Saint Martin's area where Jeffrey Buller was also killed last week. Again, you know that he is a known figure from the Bacaland area, and we also anticipate that there's going to be some form of retaliation for his death. And so, again, I am on the grounds with the commanders, doing what can be done, speaking to the families. Yes, I fully understand we cannot be insensitive to what they're going through, but at the same time, we hope that they're going to understand that there is a greater need for peace, as opposed to violence. Going out and trying to avenge what occurred is certainly not going to make any of the parties any safer. It is going to escalate matters even worse, and we don't want to go to a stage where we have to call a State of Emergency to calm people down. We're trying to use our resources to do interventions done by LIU, our presence on the ground in terms of conducting stop and search, as well as other operational strategies that we're putting in place to be able to quell the problem. If we see that the problem persists beyond that, then I might have to ask to be the minister to ask for a state of emergency. But at this time, we're trying to do what we can with the resources we have on the grounds."
