Earlier in the news, we showed you the Police Commissioner's meet and greet on Rocky Road and George Street.
That press encounter allowed us to ask him about some good police work from on-duty officers last night.
Just before 11:00, 37-year-old Jamil Scott, a Supervisor at the Harpy Security company, was targeted by three robbers who attacked and stabbed him with an unknown object. They stole his knapsack, which contained a handheld radio that belongs to Harpy Security.
A police quick response team managed to intercept the fleeing attackers, and they retrieved the stolen items. Here's how their boss acknowledged that successful interdiction of a crime in progress:
Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police
"Again, it goes to show that our officers are out there every day doing the best they can to keep our respective communities safe. Oftentimes the good work that the police do goes unnoticed. I'm happy to see that you, as a journalist working for Channel Seven, are able to pick up on the good work the police had done in that particular incident. There are many others that police have operated in such a way that we were able to intercept suspects and recover properties. I commend the officers for their stellar performance in the job that led to the detention of the persons involved, the recovery of the items stolen. But, again, we need to do more to be able to give our officers recognition for good work that they do. And that's that will serve as a form of motivation for them moving forward."
