It was a weekend free of shooting deaths, a welcome change from the usual heavy note that this newscast is often forced to start the news on.

But despite any fatalities, the country saw at least three shooting incidents this weekend.

Guns were fired on at least two occasions in the Lakeview area over the weekend and at this hour police believe the intended target to have been one Kenrick Gordon.

But this morning when ASP Fitzroy Yearwood addressed the press he claimed that Gordon has been less than forthcoming with information.

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Officer
"It stemmed from an incident that occurred the night before on Lakeview Street where a police officer was working on special duty at a Chinese establishment when a grey Ford escape arrived on the scene and two men armed with firearms alighted the vehicle when one tried to fire on Kenrick Gordon the firearm apparently snapped. The officer's quick thinking he managed to detain the driver of thst vehicle. The men that were armed with the firearms

made good their escape one ran to the direction towards somewhere in the Lakeview Street area. Now, police officers were following up on that incident where yesterday morning they heard what appeared to be gunshots fired somewhere in the Lakeview and Vernon Street area. They responded, again these men alluded the officers but a thorough search of the area ended up with the officers finding a 9mm pistol with a magazine with ammunition in it. This was labelled as found property but we know who we are looking for this incident and we have since that time since yesterday done several operations where we have seen several persons from that May flower area being detained. The details of whether any charges will be done will be sent to you as soon as we do, if we do any."

"I can tell you outright, Mr. Gordon is not cooperating with officers and so we have to go by what the detective that was in that area saw and like I said we have the driver detained. We have since identified the other two men and hopefully we will be able based on the eyewitness account of the officer we should be able to levy charges no but like I said the cooperation is not forthcoming from Mr. Gordon."
