Last night we told you about the dangerous MS 13 gang member from El Salvador who was caught in Belize and sent back to his country.
Tonight, we have obtained pictures of the handover to Guatemalan police at the Benque/Melchor border on Thursday. Belize police and immigration handed him over to their Guatemalan counterparts, and they then conveyed him to Salvador where he was immediately placed in jail.
A tweet from Salvadorean police says that Lucero is known as "Rockero" and is, quote, "an MS 13 terrorist." He is held in custody awaiting trial. They say that he could, quote, "face up to 30 years in prison and not be able to do any more damage…as well he has prior offenses from 2015 for the same crime." End quote.
7News has been following the story since last Monday when we learned that Eric Alberto Lucero was intercepted by authorities in Belize. An observant law enforcement officer spotted his distinctive and sinister tattoos, and decided to put his name in a law enforcement database. That's when they found out he was wanted in El Salvador.
