As we've been reporting, the Commissioner of Police Chester Williams got into a minor accident on the George Price Highway on Sunday. It happened near Blackman Eddy where the Compol says he was overtaking when a vehicle In front of him decided to make a left turn without looking what was coming behind. From there a tourist traveling behind the Commissioner rear ended him, hissing his back tyre. The commissioner says his vehicle received no damage - but the tourist's tiny rental car got its front end re-arranged.
Now, judging at least from the fact that photo of the general area of the accident shows two solid lines on the highway, has caused many Facebook commenters to state that the Compol was overtaking in a no overtake zone.
And while there may be an arguable case on way or the other about who's to blame, the police have already found that it's definitely not their boss! Unlike everyone else who gets involved in a collision, we learned today that the Commissioner will not be served with a notice of intended prosecution. The Police Communications Officer, ASP Yearwood told us why:
Reporter
"The ComPol, has he been served with am NIP?"

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Officer, Police Department
"Well, if he was at fault then that would have been done, but clearly the investigators that visited that scene have indicated to our office that the Commissioner of Police was not at fault."
Reporter
"Sir, but the road had the 2 solid lines. I don't drive, but I know you are not supposed to overtake when it's the yellow lines."
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood
"Well, that's an argument between the courtroom between the commissioner and the other driver."
