And while that coca operation was found in Belize, there was a drug plane and boat operation found near the pacific coast of Guatemala on Wednesday morning. The Guatemalan armed forces found the drug plane and waiting boats.
This same same drug plane is believed to have been circling near Bella Vista, Toledo on Tuesday night.
The commissioner said that they have been circling:
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"We have had a number of traffic in our airspace recently. Our efforts have been able to deter some of them from landing within our border. In those instances - I know of two instances where one landed in Guatemala and one in Mexico. In both cases, the Guatemalan and Mexican authorities were able to intercept the cargo and arrested some people. It goes to show that our multi-agency approach in Belize, as well as the partnering with our neighbour's countries: Guatemala and Belize, is yielding great success in the fight against narcotraffickers."
