There were two major developments today in criminal cases against police corporal Elmer Nah. First, he was finally slapped with additional charges for the murder of Vivian Ramnarace and for the attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and wounding upon Yemi Alberto, David Ramnarace's girlfriend. When that happened he erupted in court, throwing accusations at the head of the Prosecution Branch, Alifa Elrington, saying they were "chancing" him, and that they didn't have the gun he allegedly used. Elrington had to speak to him in the cellblock area as he was disturbing the other courtrooms. She told him if he continued to act disorderly, he would be placed in the holding cell area.
A senior police officer from the GI3 also had to step in to urge him to restrain himself and to escort him to the courtroom, where the charges were officially read. Due to the nature of those offenses, bail was denied, and the case was adjourned for March 3rd.
These outbursts occurred after Senior Magistrate Baja Shoman ruled that he, his common law wife, Epifania Caliz, and police constable, Manuel Caliz, do have a case to answer in the firearms and ammunition case. That goes back to the days after the Balden drug plane landing when Nah, and the Caliz's were found in a police assigned car with a firearm and ammunition. In making the ruling, Shoman reviewed and rejected their attorneys' no case submission that was made last Friday.
They are facing charges of 2 counts of kept ammunition without a license for 135 rounds of.223 Remington live rounds and four 5.56 caliber live rounds, and will stand trial on March 16th, in what is sure to be an explosive court session.
